By creating a Kleido account or using kleido.app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service. We've kept this short and in plain language.
What Kleido is and isn't
Kleido is a professional reference database for automotive locksmiths, not a VIN-to-code retrieval service. You look up bittings by code, by the cuts you've decoded off the lock, or by make, model, and year. We do not look up a specific vehicle's key code from its VIN, and we do not access manufacturer, dealer, or NASTF code databases. Kleido does not verify vehicle ownership or provide locksmith services. You're responsible for lawfully obtaining any code or cuts you enter, and for confirming you're authorized to service the vehicle.
Subscription and billing
Kleido is a subscription service: $14.99 per month or $149 per year, billed in advance through Stripe. New accounts include a 3-day free trial; you won't be charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel any time before then with no charge. When the trial ends, your subscription automatically starts and renews at the then-current price on a recurring basis until you cancel. You can cancel an active subscription at any time and retain access until the end of the current billing period; we don't prorate refunds for partial periods. Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice by email; changes don't apply to your current paid period.
Acceptable use
Kleido is intended for legitimate use by automotive locksmiths, key technicians, dealership key departments, and similar professionals. You agree not to: use automated tools to scrape or bulk-export the data; resell, redistribute, or republish the code data as your own product; use the service to attempt vehicle theft or any other illegal activity; or share your account with people outside your immediate business. Each account is for one user. If you have a team, contact us about a team plan.
License and intellectual property
Your subscription is a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Kleido for your own locksmith business while your account is active. Kleido owns the app, the underlying code database, the key visualizations, and the Kleido name and brand; nothing here transfers any of that to you. You may not copy, scrape, bulk-export, resell, sublicense, or republish the data, and you may not reverse-engineer the service.
Community tips and user content
Some vehicle pages let locksmiths share tips, programming notes, and key-making instructions. Anything you post is your responsibility; by posting, you grant Kleido a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, store, and distribute it within the service. Community content is contributed by other users and is not verified by Kleido, so use your own judgment and confirm before relying on it. We may edit or remove any content at our discretion, and we're not liable for content posted by users.
Data accuracy and your responsibility
Kleido's code data is verified to the best of our ability against industry-standard sources, but it's provided as is, with no warranty of completeness, accuracy, or fitness for any particular vehicle. The locksmith remains responsible for verifying any code before cutting a key, and for confirming the legitimacy of the lockout, key duplication, or service request before providing service. If you spot a wrong code, tell us. We'll verify and fix.
Account
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials private and for any activity under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access. One user per account.
Termination
You can cancel any time from your account settings or by emailing contact@kleido.app. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, particularly for scraping, redistribution, or fraudulent chargebacks. Where reasonable, we'll warn first.
Disclaimer of warranties
The service and all data are provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. You use Kleido at your own risk.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Kleido is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the service or its data, including but not limited to miscut keys, lockouts, vehicle damage, lost business, or lost data. Our total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid Kleido in the 12 months before the claim.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Kleido harmless from any claims, damages, or costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service, your violation of these terms, or your use of the data for any unlawful or unauthorized purpose.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, United States, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Disputes that can't be worked out by email are resolved in the state or federal courts located in Maricopa County, Arizona.
Changes to these terms
When we change these terms in any meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of the page and send a notice to the email on file before the change takes effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
