What Kleido is
Kleido is a working tool for the people in the truck. It covers roughly 3,700 automotive vehicle series with more than 1.6 million verified bitting codes, key blank cross-references, Lishi decoder matches, key cutting profiles with visual depth charts, and transponder information. Everything is built mobile-first so you can pull a code at a stop without fighting a desktop UI in the parking lot.
Who it's for
Mobile automotive locksmiths, lockout services, dealership key departments, and key duplication shops. Kleido replaces the category-leading tool (InstaCode) at a fraction of the price — $9.99/month against roughly $500/year — so a working locksmith doesn't have to choose between code data and overhead.
The name
The word Kleido comes from the Greek kleidos, meaning key, and from the title Kleidochos (key-bearer) given to the goddess Hecate.
How the data gets verified
Codes are sourced from industry-standard locksmith data and then put through a manual verification pass before they're published. Roughly 13.6% of the catalog is currently marked fully verified end-to-end; the remaining series ship with partial data while verification continues in the background. Each series page shows when it was last verified, and any locksmith who finds an inaccurate cut is one email away from getting it corrected. We treat code accuracy as a moving target, not a one-time import.
Who built it
Kleido is built by a small team with a working locksmith on the data side and an engineering background on the software side. Every feature comes from real cuts on real keys: if a Lishi decoder matters in the field, it shows up in the app; if a depth chart only matters to a manufacturer, it doesn't. The roadmap is driven by tickets from working locksmiths.
What's coming
Native iOS and Android apps are in active development. Expanded Lishi tool coverage and broader key machine integrations are planned for the next few quarters, alongside a community submission flow so locksmiths can contribute corrections and fill catalog gaps directly. The web app you're reading about isn't going anywhere — it stays the canonical Kleido experience.
